Annual Scholarship Awards

The Sound Shore St. Patrick's Day Parade began as a community event in 2012, to promote and celebrate Irish Heritage and the American Immigrant Experience in the Sound Shore community, and to provide a meaningful, honorable, and festive occasion for families and friends. Even more important is the parade organization's commitment to education by raising money for college scholarships. Each year since 2012, the Parade Committee has awarded 1-2 one-year scholarships to Sound Shore Community graduating high school seniors, and has bestowed $30,000 in college scholarships to date.

In Spring 2021, the Parade Committee is proud to be able to offer THREE $2,000 scholarships:

  • TWO Scholarships to be awarded to high school students who have demonstrated an active contribution to Irish culture, Irish community programs and/or Irish charitable organizations.

  • NEW: OUR “MARSHAL MOHR” CIRCLE SCHOLARSHIP to be awarded to a high school senior who exemplifies the continuing contributions of all immigrants and their descendants to our community.
