Instructions for Marchers

Thank you for your participation in the Sound Shore St. Patrick's Day Parade. We are looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday, March 22nd, in Mamaroneck. We will follow up later in the week with the Line of March (LOM) once it is finalized. It will also be posted to our socials and website once available

Please check the LOM attachment for your position once you receive it. It is essential for individuals and groups to adhere to their assigned positions in the line of march. While individuals are welcome to socialize after registering, please go to your assigned division and line of march position immediately prior to the start of the parade. This is important to aid logistics, and to assist the LMC Media commentators and our parade emcee.

Here is some additional information in preparation for your arrival that day:

● The parade steps off promptly at 1:30 pm. Please plan to arrive in the Mamaroneck
area by NOON to check in at registration. The VOMPD will begin to shut down
parts of Mamaroneck Avenue to regular traffic at that time.

● A shuttle service will be available to take marchers from Harbor Island near the
Marine Education Center building to the staging area surrounding MAS starting
around noon until 1:30pm. This year parking may be limited at Harbor Island as this
past winter brought an unprecedented amount of snow. Please commute responsibly
to and from our parade; we encourage carpooling, ridesharing, and the train.

● There will be a registration station set up in front of Mamaroneck Avenue
School (850 Mamaroneck Avenue, Mamaroneck.) Please designate ONE member
to check in, if you registered as a group.

● Committee members will confirm your position in the LOM when you register (please
double check, as late changes are sometimes necessary), and give you the
appropriate number of wristbands so each marcher has access to the Hospitality
Tent. After this, you will be directed to your specific staging point.

● Complimentary refreshments are for marchers; if your child is marching with a group,
please have the leader checking in make sure they receive enough wristbands so the
parent/guardian accompanying them has one, too.

● Once marchers are situated in the staging area near Mamaroneck Avenue School
prior to the start of the parade, buses and other modes of transportation will be
directed down to the parking lot in Harbor Island Park. The parade route ends at
Harbor Island, so this will facilitate easy pickup of your group.

● As the parade begins, please follow directions from the event staff, in green
vests or committee sashes.

● Marchers should maintain a reasonable distance from the group ahead of you
ideally, 15-20 feet. Adults in the group, please be aware of this.

● Musical groups are expected to stop and do a brief performance in front of the
reviewing stand to honor the Grand Marshal.

● For any fire departments with apparatus, keep in mind that there is a railway
trestle to pass underneath on the parade route. The clearance is 10 ft. 11 in.

● Elected officials, you are welcome to invite family members to march with you. It is
imperative that you stay in your assigned place so you can be announced.

● Insurance prohibits marchers from tossing candy, beads, souvenirs, etc., to
spectators along the parade route. It prohibits any live animals, including leashed
dogs, from participating in the parade. It also prohibits floats.

● March with pride, even for those who may not be of Irish Heritage.

● In the event emergency vehicles should need to leave the line of march, all
parade participants should move to the right so they can pass.
